Objectives of the Course
The purpose of the course is to give the student a thorough understanding of the principles and methods of biological control of pests and diseases, provide knowledge of basic identification of biological control agents and help to understand relationships between pests and their natural enemies, observing the biocontrol mechanisms between the microorganisms in the ecological aspects, comprehend the obtain, bioformulation and application of the biocontrol agents.

1Understanding importance of biological control methods among the other pest control methods
2Establish relationship between the pests, natural enemies, economical threshold of damage and balance of nature

Biological Control of the Pests  Definition and importance of biological control  Natural equilibrium, economic threshold and relationships between biological control  Definitions of biological control agents  Methods of biological control  Place of biological control in integrated pest management and organic agriculture  Identification biological control agents - Predators (Vertebrates, mites and insects) - Parasitoids - Entomopathogens Biological Control of Diseases  Basic terms and history of biological control and ecological evaluation  Interrelation between the microorganisms  Biological control on the plant related systems such as rhizospere, phyllosphere etc,  Isolation and application of the promising biological control agents for plant diseases  The Process of the obtaining the bioformulation and application of effective biocontrol agents  Examples of commercial bioformulations
