Objectives of the Course
Basic design principles are important in terms of development of visual perception, perception of design elements and principles, understanding of all aspects of an artwork and understanding of the formal dimension of artwork. These are the contents of the basic design principles. With this course, it is found out that the elements and principles that make up the basic design principles form the basis not only in the art of painting but also in the other arts. It is aimed to compare and evaluate the similarity of the rules applied in the basic design principles and the similarity of the rules in ceramic art.

The concept of design in historical process, Design and art history, factors affecting design, Decomposition of arts, art, aesthetics and so on. basic concepts, levels in environmental design, Basic design elements: point, line, direction. Product and space examples, Basic Design elements: measurement, concepts related to measurement, Design criteria, gold numbers, golden ratio, range, Basic design elements: Form, psychological effects of form, basic forms, concepts, form in products. Basic design elements: Color, concepts, psychological effects of colors on product and space. Basic design elements: texture, concepts, product, texture in human and space, value, concepts, Product, human, tone value in space, light, shadow, movement, Basic design principles: repetition, rhythm in product and space, conformity and contrast. Basic design principles: sovereignty, hierarchy, balance, concepts and examples in product and space, Basic design principles: unity, product and space unity concepts, basic balance types, product and space organization principles.
