Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide the students with skills needed to evaluate public health issues objectively and a scientific perspective on health problems. The course also aims to provide the knowledge and skills needed to prepare a research proposal.

1To be able to explain the importance of epidemiology
2To be able to classify the different types of the relation and to count the criteria of a causal relation
3To be able to define the natural history of disease and the levels of prevention
4To be able to classify, calculate and interprete the health indices
5To be able to appraise the basic characteristics of the main research design methods and list the main sources of bias
6To be able to recognize the ethic rules in science
7To be able to prepare a research proposal

Course Contents
This course is composed of the definition of epidemiology, the discussion of concept of causality, the description of the natural history of the disease and the levels of prevention and explanation of The main features of the epidemiological research design types.
