Objectives of the Course
At the end of this course, the students will get the knowledge that will need in other areas of phytopathology science, learn the methods used in the diagnosis of plant diseases, clinical and field applications and realize solving a problem faced on this matter and reporting the results.

Learning Outcomes
1Define the importance and benefit of the diagnosis of plants diseases from the aspect of crop losses and epidemic of plant diseases
2Interpret phytopathological knowledge, principles and concepts for the diagnosis and detection of plant diseases
3Use the procedures dealing with the diagnosis and detection of plant diseases caused by agent and factors
4Make the suggestions and prepare the reports for solutions of the problems associated with plant diseases by using appropriate methods and techniques
5Design article, project and report on the related matter and evaluate them

Course Contents
• The importance and definition of the diagnosis and detection of diseases in plants • Introduction of the clinical equipments utilized in the diagnosis of plant diseases and giving information about their usages • The general information on symptoms of diseases caused by abiotic and biotic agents (viral, bacterial, and fungal) in cultural plants • Clinical investigations: Providing the data about the appearances of plant diseases on plant samples and recording them • Diagnostic studies in field: Disease damage and symptomatology in/on plant tissues and symptomatology • The comparison of the findings from clinical and field observations and making a definite decision on diagnosis
