Objectives of the Course
At the end of this course, students will learn fundamental concepts and theories of sustainable rural development policy and will be equiped with information and skills that is necessary to analyze the rural development indicators they will be able to analyze the rural areas and projects; its problems through use of rural development indicators.

Course Contents
It is especially focused on fallowing issues: • An overview of sustainable rural development issues and policies in the some Contries. • Knowledge on the aspects currently identified as a key for development in rural areas in its orientation to the sustainable development. • An introduction to rural development indicators on the basis of current projects. • Criteria on the usefulness of different indicators according to particular objectives of rural programmes. • Practical experience on how to develop, use and evaluate indicators. • Evaluation of indicators: Practical work • Discussion of the topics covered along the course from the viewpoint of Turkey • Use of indicators to evaluate sustainable development in rural areas : Examples of EU, OECD countries and Turkey Projects
