Objectives of the Course
The aim of this lecture is to inform students about transportation planning. Within this purpose the traditional four-step transportation planning model is explained.

Course Contents
The development in transportation, transportation modes and infrastructure. The operational characteristics in transportation modes. The scope of transportation planning. The definition of transportation needs and accessibility, explanation of the relation between transportation systems and land use. Transportation and land use. The data collection techniques in transportation planning. The traditional four-step transportation planning (trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice and trip assignment). Environmental effects of transportation. Transportation management.
