Ege University has been awarded the prestigious European Commission’s ECTS Label. The ECTS Label is a certificate issued by the European Commission in recognition of a particular higher education institution. It indicates the university’s quality and states that the ECTS is used correctly in all disciplines at both bachelor and master level and that student mobility under the Erasmus programme is administered properly. The ECTS Label Certificate is the most prestigious European award in tertiary education.
It attests that the strategic objectives of the university in the European higher education area are fulfilled. Using a credit rating according to the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) allows transparent recognition of academic achievements completed at universities other than the students’ home university and thus it directly supports student mobility within as well as outside Europe. The certificate attests that a particular university meets the strict criteria of the European Union concerning higher education and contributes significantly to the expansion of student mobility and in this way also to the internationalization of the university. The certificates be issued to representatives of the universities on 8th May 2012 in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus programme.
