Objectives of the Course
The objectives of the course are to obtain knowledge and skills to construct dentures for edentolous and partially edentolous patients. To understand the philosophy of prosthodontic treatment for edentolous and partially edentolous patients. To understand basic principles of tooth preparation. To learn how to communicate with the patients as a dentist.

Learning Outcomes
1To be able to recognize the total and partial tooth loss, benefits and advantages of dentures, clinical steps and laboratory procedures of complete denture and removable partial denture construction
2To be able to recognize the repairing methods of dentures.
3To be able to recognize the fixed prosthodontics, tooth preparation for crown restoration.
4To be able to know how to communicate with the patients.

Course Contents
Total and partial tooth loss, benefits and advantages of dentures, clinical steps and laboratory procedures of complete denture and removable partial denture construction. Repairing methods of dentures. Introduction to fixed prosthodontics, tooth preparation for crown restoration.

1Understanding the patient. History, examination.
2Diagnosis and treatment planning. Preextraction vertical dimension recording.
3Anatomic and denture landmarks.
4Construction autopolimerizing acrylic resin edentolous trays
5Complete denture impressions. Impression objectives and techniques. Border moulding, final impressions
6Record bases and occlusion rims, vertical relations. Rest position, Centric relation, horizontal relation.
7Hinge axis and face-bow Compensation curves.Tooth selection. Basic rules of tooth arrangement.
8Arrangement of anterior teeth.
9Arrangement of posterior teeth.
10Laboratory procedures: wax contouring, Flasking of dentures according to split cast method .Wax elimination, preparation of mould, Packing acrylic dentures, curing acrylic.
11Deflasking of dentures, trimming, finishing and polishing. Checking occlusion on articulator. Common errors in the laboratory procedures.
12Mandibular movements, maxillo-mandibular relations. Chewing cycle,balanced occlusion.
13Mid-term practical examination. Mid-term theoretical examination
14Retention and stabilization
15Relining and rebasing of complete dentures. Dublication of existing (old) dentures
16Removable immediate complete dentures.
