Objectives of the Course
To teach the basic concepts about fixed prosthodontics such as diagnosis and the treatment planning; tooth preparation, gingival retraction, impression, maxillo-mandibular relation record, cementation, occlusion, crown types; their indication, contra-indication, advantage and disadvantages, patient motivation, post-prosthetic care, possible complications and their removal.

Teaching basic concepts about fixed prosthodontic treatments by theoretical lectures coordinated with the laboratory studies and clinical observations

17Introduction to Removable Partial dentures. RPD components and their functions : Saddles, parts giving support, connectors, retainers. Parts of saddles: base, clasps. rests, artificial teeth. Form of circumferential clasp arms. Wrought wire clasp arm bending I.
18Height of contour (survey line), path of placement,undercut areas, interference, retentive areas, guiding planes, how does clasp work on tooth, clasp bending II .
19Direct retainers, internal attachments, extracoronal attachments, clasps. Functions of clasps : retention, stabilization, support, bracing, reciprocation, passivity
20Model surveying, determining path of placement, Advantages of guiding planes. Clasp designing acccording to survey lines : circumferential or bar clasp. Clasp designing in case of high or low survey lines or tilted abutments.
21Errors of wrought wire clasps and cast clasps. Evaluation of clasps according to “ criterias for laboratory project evaluation list.
22How does mastication forces transmits to bone. Vertical and horizotal forces. Movements of RPD due to mastication forces. Rotation, leverage
23Designing for support: base plate, rest, rest seats, fulcrum axis (rotational supporting axis ), sustentation planes, indirect support.
24Major and minor connectors. Indirect retainers. Tooth arrangement difficulties of RPD.
25Functions of RPD .Advantages and disadvantages of RPD. Advantages and disadvantages of fixed dentures.
26Understanding the patient, diagnosis and treatment planning, preliminary impressions, mouth preparation. İmpressions and master casts blockig out, relief wax, duplication procedure.
27Waxing the partial denture framework on dublicate model. Supruing, investing , casting, finishing and polishing.
28Flasking RPD, packing acrylic dough, curing, deflasking, finishing and polishing. Processing RPD by fluid resin medhod.
29Relining and rebasing the RPD. Repairs and additions to RPD.
30"Mid-term theoretical examination, mid-term practical examination. Adjustment of occlusion."
31Introduction to fixed dentures. Tooth preparation for crowns.
32Introduction to tooth preparation principles. Final exam
