Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide students information about the concept of phytotherapy, historical background of phytotherapy, drugs and medicines used in phytotherapy. Also, the students will be able to gain knowledge regarding the recent situation of phytotherapy in Turkey and in the world and they will be able to evaluate these issues. Moreover, this course is aimed at making possible for the students to be able to have basic information about important phytotherapeutics used in various illnesses (central nervous system, disgetive system, obesity, skin, liver and gynecology).

Learning Outcomes
1To be able to gain knowledge regarding the concept of phytotherapy and historical background of phytotherapy. Also, to be able to evaluate the recent situation of phytotherapy in Turkey and in the world.
2To be able to gain knowledge concerning phytotherapeutics used in various illnesses. To be able to list and compare their uses.
3Aimed at encouraging the correct and the most suitable uses of phytoptherapeutics, to be able to provide consultancy service to patients, doctors and to other health professionals.

Definition of phytotherapy, historical background, its recent situation in Turkey and in the world, phytotherapeutics of central nervous system, phytotherapeutics used in gynecology, phytoestrogens, phytotherapeutics of urinary tract system, phytotherapeutics of cardiovascular system, digestive and respiratory systems, phytotherapeutics used in liver diseases, phytotherapeutics of immune system, phytotherapeutics used in skin related diseases and for the treatment of obesity.
