Objectives of the Course
Objectives of the Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy III is to provide students to be able to describe chemical transmission in central nervous system (CNS) and examine drug action in CNS, to describe the concepts of anaesthesia and analgesia and classify general and local anaesthetics and opioid analgesics, to be able to describe the CNS related disorders such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, epilepsia and neurodegenerative diseases and discuss the drugs used for these disorders, classify CNS stimulants and psychotomimetic drugs, recognize the concepts of drug addiction, dependence and abuse, obesity, life style drugs and drugs used in sport.

Learning Outcomes
1On completion of this course the successful student will be able to: Describe chemical transmission and examine drug action in the central nervous system
2Describe anaesthesia and discuss local and general anaesthetic agents
3Describe anxiety, depression, psychosis and epilepsia and discuss the drugs used for these disorders
4Describe analgesia and to be able to classify and discuss nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs and opioid analgesics
5Describe neurodegenerative diseases and discuss the drugs used for their treatment
6Describe central nervous system stimulants and psychotomimetic drugs and to be able to discuss their use in therapy
7Recognize and take responsibility for drug addiction, dependence and abuse as a pharmacist
