Objectives of the Course
The objective of Training Course IV is to provide students to be able to gain advanced knowledge, skills and experience about pharmacy practice.

Recommended Optional Programme Components
Training Course IV consists 420 hours and is fulfilled in the term 9 and/or 10 for at least 30 hours a week. Training Course IV should be done at a pharmacy in İzmir that is specified by the Training Course Commission General notes on practice training. 01. One work day consists 6 hours. 02. Weekly trainings are 5 days (Monday – Friday) at least 30 hours. 03. Daily work hours are between 09.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 - 16.00. 04. Lunch break is between 12.00 - 13.00.

1• Meeting training instructor pharmacist and pharmacy staff and familiarizing with physical parts of the pharmacy • Obtaining general information about duties of pharmacy staff and jobs performed in pharmacy • Obtaining information about instruments, devices, equipments and their use (telephone, fax, computer, printer, cash register, refrigerator, security and alarm system, etc.) • To look over localization of pharmaceutical preparations in pharmacy • To look over localization and preservation of green and red prescription drugs in pharmacy • Specifying layout of the pharmacy • Understanding every aspect of and important issues in drug ordering process. • Stating and holding mandatory records in pharmacy The trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
2• Watching Instructor pharmacist and preparing a report regarding his operations • Watching pharmacy support staff and and preparing a report regarding his operations • Following and summarizing the supply process of contracted body prescriptions • Description of SUT and its importance in pharmacy practice • ‘Healthcare Providers’ in SUT and role of pharmacies as healthcare providersThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
3• Determining, listing frequently used antihypertensive drugs in the pharmacy and questioning patient supply difficulties • Important issues in hypertensive patient communication • ‘Patient Directed Preventive Healthcare services’ in SUT. 4• Reporting operations for drug monitoring for permanent customers in pharmacy • Listing extemporaneous (magistral) preparations in training pharmacy and describing their preparation • Reporting sections of ‘Contribution Fee’ in SUT related to community pharmaciesThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
5• Overview of drugs used in asthma and listing frequently encountered asthma medicine in training Pharmacy • Reporting patient counseling on asthma in training pharmacy. explaining pefmeter and inhaler use techniques to at least 2 patients under the supervision of instructor pharmacist • Information about asthma medicine and their refunding in SUT • Evaluating ‘Prescription and medical certificate and medicine prescription principles’ in SUT and writing issues important for community pharmacy servicesThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
6• Overview of drugs used in hyperlipidemia and writing frequently encountered antihyperlididemic drugs in training pharmacy • Dispensing prescriptions for at least 5 chronic diseases under supervision of instructor pharmacist and controlling drug interactions • Analyzing ‘Maximum amount of drugs that can be prescribed in SUT and its importance by means of dispensing prescriptions • Analyzing ‘Principles of use of lipid lowering drugs’ in SUT and its importance by means of dispensing prescriptionsThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
7• Overview of drugs used in pain management and information about frequently encountered analgesic drugs in training pharmacy and reporting red prescription analgesics • Overview of frequently encountered common cold and cough problems in training pharmacy and summarizing related suggestions health counselor • Overview of frequently encountered smoking cessation issues in training pharmacy and summarizing related suggestions health counselor • Analyzing ‘Drugs free of patient contribution fee’ in SUT and reporting important issues by means of dispensing prescriptions • Writing legislations for red prescription medicines in detailThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.
8• Overview of nutrition supplements • Listing most frequently ordered 10 nutrition supplement preparations in training pharmacy and analyzing their descriptions in detail • Observing jobs for pharmacy assistants and their competency. Getting related information about formal procedures regarding staff from instructor pharmacist and summarizing these information • Analyzing ‘Drugs to be refunded only for inpatients’ in SUT and reporting important issues by means of dispensing prescriptions The trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy.

Doing research for fast and effective use of these guidelines. • Writing down important issues about “Principles for growth hormone use” in SUT.
