Objectives of the Course
The objective of Training Course III is to provide students to be able to gain moderate to advanced knowledge, skills and experience about pharmacy practice.

Recommended Optional Programme Components
Training Course III consists 120 hours and is fulfilled in the summer season following term 8. Part of Training course III can be carried out in Faculty Training Pharmacy or in hospital pharmacy with approval of the Training Course Comission and Administrative Board of the Faculty. General notes on practice training. 01. One work day consists 6 hours. 02. Weekly trainings are 5 days (Monday – Friday) at least 30 hours. 03. Daily work hours are between 09.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 - 16.00. 04. Lunch break is between 12.00 - 13.00.

1Course Contents of Community Pharmacy Trainee Students • Meeting training instructor pharmacist and pharmacy staff and familiarizing with physical parts of the pharmacy • Obtaining general information about duties of pharmacy staff and jobs performed in pharmacy • Obtaining information about instruments, devices, equipments and their use (telephone, fax, computer, printer, cash register, refrigerator, security and alarm system, etc.) • To look over localization of pharmaceutical preparations in pharmacy • To look over localization and preservation of green and red prescription drugs in pharmacy • Specifying layout of the pharmacy • Watching Instructor pharmacist and preparing a report regarding his operations • Watching pharmacy support staff and and preparing a report regarding his operations • Understanding every aspect of and important issues in drug ordering process. • Following and summarizing the supply process of contracted body prescriptions. • Analyzing “Good Pharmacy Practice” with respect to patient counseling. Listing patient information topics. Listing topics to be told to the patient. Course Contents of Hospital Pharmacy Trainee Students • Meeting training instructor pharmacist and hospital pharmacy staff and familiarizing with physical parts of the hospital pharmacy • Obtaining general information about duties of hospital pharmacy staff (chief pharmacist, assistant chief pharmacist, pharmacy technician, assistant staff) and jobs performed in pharmacy • Getting hold of satellite work units or drug supply units if present. Summarizing their function, features and working arrangements of these employees. • Obtaining information about workforce and variety of jobs during workhours in hospital pharmacy from the instructor pharmacist. • To look over localization of pharmaceutical preparations in pharmacy • Specifying layout and functioning of the pharmacy • Obtaining information about instruments, devices, equipments and their use (telephone, fax, computer, printer, cash register, refrigerator, security and alarm system, etc.) • Bed and employee count of the hospital and mean order count incoming to hospital pharmacy • Summarizing jobs performed in hospital pharmacy • Defining laboratory conditions and working order of hospital pharmacyThe trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy
2Course Contents of Community Pharmacy Trainee Students • Discussing possible issues regarding patients with instructor pharmacist and deciding solutions • Discussing appropriate attempts to solve problems about patients drugs (mistakes, contraindications, allergies) with the instructor pharmacist. • Determining drugs prescribed for different chronic conditions and different parts of the prescription. Preparing patient instructions. • Explaining prescribed drugs and rationales. • Analyzing prescriptions for contraindications of disease and age. • Analyzing prescriptions for drug interactions. • Comparing nutraceuticals containing Hypericum perforatum, Echinaceae, Ginkgo, Serenoa repens, garlic, ginseng, valerian, glucosamine/chondroitin with respect to active substance, therapeutic group, dosage form, indication, drug/food interactions, advers reactions and strength. 3Course Contents of Community Pharmacy Trainee Students • Encountered cases in pharmacies • Determining appropriate acetaminophen dose and pharmaceutical form for patients with respect to their age and wheight • Writing down application techniques for ophthalmic preparations and explaining these techniques to a patient under the supervision of instructor pharmacist. • Writing down application techniques for nasal inhalers and explaining these techniques to a patient under the supervision of instructor pharmacist. • Writing down application techniques for dermatologic preparations (e.g., pomade, cream, lotion) and explaining these techniques to a patient under the supervision of instructor pharmacist. Course Contents of Hospital Pharmacy Trainee Students • Pharmaceutical and medical product supply of hospital • Appropriate reception of pharmaceuticals and medical devices to hospital • Categorization of drugs with respect to their species and establishment to cabinets • Recording receipts and expenses for narcotics and following laws, regulations and public acts about narcotics. • Appropriate drug dispensing and delivery for patients. • Extemporaneous (magistral) preparation use for economical and standard therapy • Record holding appropriate for merchandise guidelines • Supplying required medicines for clinic services, operating theater, policlinics and laboratories.The trainee will exercise subjects listed in theoretical lectures box in pharmacy
