Objectives of the Course
Clinical Pharmacy II is the second course in a 2-part series that focuses on the fundamentals of clinical pharmacy and in this context the management of drug treatment in common diseases in pharmacy practice.

Learning Outcomes
1Provide a consistent process of patient care that ensures the appropriateness, effectiveness, and safety of the patient’s medication use.
2Consult with the patient’s physicians and other health care providers to develop and implement a medication plan that can meet the overall goals of patient care established by the health care team.
3Apply specialized knowledge of the scientific and clinical use of medications, including medication action, dosing, adverse effects, and drug interactions, in performing their patient care activities in collaboration with other members of the health care team.
4Applies evidence-based therapeutic guidelines, emerging sciences, emerging technologies, and relevant legal, ethical, social, cultural, economic and professional principles to achieve desired therapeutic goals.
5To be able to provide scientifically valid information and advice on the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of drugs.

Course Contents
To ensure that the prescribed medications contribute to the best possible health outcomes, the selection, dosage and monitoring of medications within the framework of pharmacotherapy, and the issues and measures necessary to determine clinically significant and/or toxic drug interactions are discussed. Part of the course is based on problem solving and integration of previous course work.
