Objectives of the Course
This course prepares students with the geographic concepts necessary for technical application of Geographic Information Systems. This introductory course will allow the students to identify and describe the hardware component of a GIS, data models and database concepts, describe and evaluate methods of data capture and sources of data, characteristics of spatial data, GIS operations and difference between raster and vector based GIS.
