The overall objective of this course is an introduction to general topics in regard to fisheries and aquaculture engineering and introduces education to the students.

The main topics of this course are as follows; Introduction, The general overview to the Turkey’s and World’s Fisheries, fisheries production and fisheries statistics, introduction of the Turkey’s Seas, Commercially important fish and aquatic species, fishing fleet, classification of fishing gear and methods, the state of aquaculture in Turkey and World, aquaculture methods in companies, aquaculture products and environment, classification of aquaculture, site selection criteria for aquaculture, species selection in aquaculture, Turkish aquaculture profile and future of aquaculture.
