Objectives of the Course
This course aims at analyzing the formation of high and popular culture by focusing on the historical themes and issues in the USA. As the course is scheduled for two semesters, in the first one the ideology and representation of culture and its transformation in relation with the political and economic developments will be explored by covering the period from the early 20th century up to present time

Theories and approaches in cultural studies, representation, ideology, power and resistance, discourse analysis, semiotics, popular culture, mass culture, media, film analysis, social media, humor and cartoon.
