Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course unit is to reinforce the background knowledge of the students that they gained in the course units titled “Tourism Geography of Turkey” and “Local Tourism”, through applications such as presentations, projects, field work and questionnaire applications.

1Make a research on and interpret the potential and utilization of a region in aspect of tourism
2Learn about the tourism destinations of Turkey in a tourism geographical approach
3Make a research on and interpret the impacts of tourism in different cases
4Determine the tourism potential different destinations within the local tourism zone of city of Izmir city
5Determine the tourism impacts in the local tourism zone of Izmir city (spatial analysis)
6Develop projects on promoting different tourism types in the local tourism zone of the city of Izmir

Course Contents
Doing applied research on the tourism geography of Turkey and local tourism: determination of tourism potential of an area, criticizing current utilization of tourism potential, observing and analysing the effects of tourism in nearby destinations , determining the prospective tourism regions to be developed and preparing sample projects.
