Objectives of the Course
When the music notation is historically evaluated it is seen that some signs were used in order to protect the melodies from extinciton. These signs were transformed into notation systems through the historical process. The aim of this course is to introduce the notation systems from past to present, explain thier properties and espacially teach the notation systems used in Turkish music throughly.

Learning Outcomes
1Gain the basic necessary information for the studies about the history of Turkish music.
2Teach the basic skills of using bibliography of studies on Turkish music.
3Providing the necessary methods for the analysis of the works of Turkish music.
4Creation of conditions to take advantage of sources written in Ottoman Turkish.
5Introduce the notation systems used in Turkish Music througly.

Course Contents
History of notation in world musics. Ebced notation, Kantemiroğlu, Nayi Osman Dede, Abdülbaki Nasır Dede, Ali Ufki, Hamparsum, Tanburi Küçük Artin, Grigor Gapasakalian, Mustafa Nezih Albayrak, Rauf Yekta notation systems. Transcripton study from these notation systems to current day notation.
