General Description
History
Cesme Vocational School of Tourism was founded in 1987 as a three -year hotel and tourism management program (including basic english foundation year) and then in 2004, it was converted to Cesme School of Tourism and Hotel Management. Since 2005-2006 academic year it has been giving a four -year education leading to Bachelor's Degree in Travel Management. The Department gave its first graduates in 2008-2009 academic year.
Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor's Degree in Travel Management ( first cycle in Travel Management ) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum

Specific Admission Requirements
The general requirements explained in “General Admission Requirements” of Information on the Institution part are applied for admission of students.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
All high school graduates mainly the graduates of Tourism and Hotel Vocational High School graduates are trained here through their personal preferences.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates can have positions at travel agents, at airlines and airports as well as hosts or hostess.They are able to be employed at any institutions and organizations in the field of tourism.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students take one mid-term exam and one final exam for each course. They need a score of 60 out of 100 to get a passing grade. To get a passing grade in the course ,the student's total score will be the sum of 40% of mid-term exam grade and 60% of final exam grade.

Facilities
Students have the opportunity to get the certificates of some automation programs such as Sejour, Amadeus, Galileo after the training period given by the department.

1Having knowledge about the tourism components (accommodation, travel etc.)
2Obtaining the basic principles in travel management (travel agency, tour operatour, reservation systems, transport) and adopting them to one’s own business life.
3Being able to analyse concepts and ideas of basic principles in travel management using scientific methods and interpret the data.
4Having good command of computerized programmes in the tourism sector mainly at travel agencies.
5Recognizing the importance of cooperation in the tourism sector and communicating the shareholders.
6Finding practical solutions to the current problems by examining current developments as a team worker or an individual.
7Having sufficient knowledge about social and professional ethical values and applying them.
8Having sufficient knowledge about tourism law in order to be aware of the liabilities towards government and sector.
9Specializing on tour planning, coordinating, managing and controlling which are the main activities in travel management.
10Creating an organizational climate that can satisfy the needs of the guests.
11Creating puplic projects integrated with local people ,businesses and institutions as well as in-house projects, being skillful in oral and written communication.
12Corresponding team work as well as working independent.
13Speaking and reading the required foreign languages in order to communicate the travellers from abroad.
14Using the acquired knowledge about the culture, art and religions of the civilizations lived in Anatolia from the antique periods to the present.
15Having sufficient knowledge about the alternative tourism areas.
16Having conscious, knowledgeable, consistent views about the ever-changing dynamics of the sector.
17Performing rational analyses about travel agencies and interpreting quantitative data.
