General Description
History
Cesme Vocational School of Tourism and Hotel Management was founded in 1987 as a three-year hotel and tourism management program (including basic english) and then in 2004, it was converted to Cesme School of Tourism and Hotel Management. Since 2005-2006 academic year four-year education has been given leading to Bachelor's Degree in Tour Guidance. From 2015-2016 Graduate Degree is started to be given in the name of Recreation and Tour Guidance Graduate Programme.

Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Guiding The Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Guiding ( first cycle in Tourism Guiding) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum

The general requirements explained in “General Admission Requirements” of Information on the Institution part are applied for admission of students.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
The students who completed their Secondary Education in Foreign Language Departments and succeed the examination made by OSYM can choose our department according to their points. The Tourism Guiding Department of our school accepts the students who has taken the highest points in the Central University Examination. The main language of our education is Turkish, besides this English and Italian courses are being pusuaded. The courses mainly consist of Social Sciences such as Archaeology, History, Art History, Social Psychology, Mythology and Geography. Additionally, the students chose our department have to attend to the Anatolian Tour made under cooperation of TC Tourism and Culture Ministry and TUREB (TC Tour Guides Union) to be able to get the license of Professional Tour Guide.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Our graduates can mostly be hired at travel agents as a Tour Guide all around Turkey. The ratio of finding a job after graduation is fairly high. Also our students can be hired in all sections of tourism sector because of the education they have get in our school.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree and getting enough points from ALES( Academic Exam) and YDS(Exam of Foreign Languages) are eligible to apply to Garduate Programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and related disciplines. On the other hand from 2015-2016 they can also apply to our Graduate Programme "Recreation and Tour Guidance Programme".
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Students take one mid-term exam and one finalk exam for each course. They need a score of 60 out of 100 to get a passing grade. To get a passing grade in the course, the students's total will be the sum of 40% of mid-term exam grade and 60% of final exam grade.

Facilities
Thanks to the courses of English and Italien languages, our graduates can work as Tour Guide in these languages on condition to enter YDS (Exam of Foreign Languages) and get at least 80 points to be able to work as licensed Tour Guide. On the other hand, on account of the lectures that are educated in our programme like Archaeology, History of Religions, Psychology, Art History our students step into the tourism sector as a highly-qualified and visionary people. Our students can study and work in other countries during their study thanks to the Erasmus and other International Agreements. With the help of our tours held by every semester the students get the ability of guidance and step into the sector as a qualified people.

2To be able to comprehend the archaeological, historical and geographical values of Turkey that are concerned with Tour Guidance and relate them with current affairs
3To be able to consider analytically the artworks in the sphere of geography, in which the cultures lived, by making relations between the life and way of thinking and the features of the work.
4To be able to put forward the changes that are experienced by civilizations during the historical process and the effect of these changes on the cultural properties.
5To be able present themselves using a foreign language and be able to gain the ability of the information that are learnt during the lessons.
6To be able to use the main principles of the religions that have existed in the world by understandind and blending them.
7To be able to be aware of the innovations in World Tourism by following them and be informed about the tourism terminology.
8To be able to comprehend the problems in international process of Tourism and alternative tourism types and be able to put forward the solutions to these problems.
9To be able to be informed about the flora and fauna of Anatolian geography and be able to make awareness to these notions by increasing the sensibility.
10To be able arise the consciousness about the abstract and concrete works of Turkey and be able be aware of the positive and negative examples of museology.
11To be able to practice the outcomes of the information about group and human behavior.
12To be able get information about the cognitive technology and use them in accordance with its aim.
13To be able correctly present yourself and give information by using the language of instruction, Turkish.
14To be able to pursue a thesis project by puting forward to the exchanges of civilizations during the historical process and the effect of these on the cultural heritage.
