History
Undergraduate Program in Guidance and Psychological Counseling has been implemented in 1999.
Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor's Degree in Guidance and Psychological Counseling ( first cycle in Guidance and Psychological Counseling ) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum

Specific Admission Requirements

The students who would like to study in Faculty of Education of Ege University in the context of Erasmus and Mevlana mobility programmes should carefully read the following instruction before they choose the courses in course structure diagrams of the programmes. In order to promote enhanced understanding of contents, increased engagement in activities and for the purpose of efficient time use and within courses, we prepared a series of courses in English for Erasmus+ and Mevlana students. Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
Undergraduate program has two main goals: (1) to make counselor trainees gain general formation of Guidance and Psychological Counseling and, (2) to train counselors who work for education, health and industry facilities.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Undergraduates can generally work in elemantary schools, high schools and universites and other health and industry facilities as counselor.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.

Facilities
There are three professors, one associate professor and 12 assistant professors in department of Educational Science. There are 25 classrooms, three computer labs, one science lab and projection in each classroom and lab in the classroom building of Education Faculty. Moreover, there are 15 notebooks, six projections, recording devices and cameras for instruction and research projects. The three computer labs have a capacity of 130 students. There is a central library in Bornova campus.

10Students will be able to provide services to individuals which facilitate self-knowledge, self-understanding and making appropriate decisions in career development process on the basis of career development theories, decision making models, and labor market conditions.
11Students will be able to comprehend observable and measurable characteristics of indivdual on the basis of individual differences.
12Students will be able to apply to individual assessment techniques in order to provide counseling and guidance services effectively.
13Students will be able to develop psychological counseling and guidance intervention programs.
14Students will be able to recognize characteristics of individuals with special needs.
15Students will be able to assess the effectiveness of psychological counseling and guidance services.
16Students will be able to understand science and scientific knowledge, research techniques and statistical analysis techniques.
17Students will be able to follow literature and implementation in guidance and psychological counseling field.
18Students will be able to understand history, philosophy and current situation of counseling profession.
19Students will be able to recognize province of guidance and psychological counseling.
20Students will be able to use data and communication technologies effectively in order to increase the qualification of guidance and psychological counseling services and follow scientific development.
21Students will be able to use a foreign language in order to follow scientific development in guidance and psychological counseling field.
22Students will be able to present guidance and psychological counseling services in accordance with ethical principles, rules and law.
