General Description
History
Advertising Department within the body of Ege University, Faculty of Communication is established in April 2008 and started admitting students to undergraduate program beginning from 2009-2010 academic year. With this program it is aimed to train employees who have knowledge and background to make qualified production in accordance with the international standards, and to provide qualified personnel to advertising sector. The period of study of the Advertising Department bachelor’s program is four years. In the context of the program it is ensured that the students have a theoretical background by theoretical and applicable studies, and equipped to produce creative and applicative projects.
Qualification Awarded
The Bachelor's Degree in Advertising (first cycle in Advertising) is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements
The general requirements explained in “General Admission Requirements” of Information on the Institution part are applied for admission of students.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their educaiton to obtain Bachelor’s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ege University and hence of the Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS).
Profile of The Programme
Advertising undergraduate program trains communication specialists who are equipped with knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide service in every field of advertising sector, internalized the ethical values, conscious about the facts of the world and embraced the importance of lifelong learning. There are theoretical information –marketing, management, administration, law, behavioral sciences, etc.- besides the courses and applications that involves preparatory information for the profession such as planning and preparing the original studies, creative projects and applicable campaigns –creative thinking, ad writing, media planning, advertising campaign implementations, advertising photography, etc.- on advertising.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The students of Advertising Department bachelor’s program will be equipped with all technical and theoretical information necessary for the field of communication, basic information that can be used in advertising and promotion activities, and applicable studies for the sector. In this sense they will be able to take charge in various positions to meet the needs of the sector as needed, versatile, qualified, effective and well-educated advertising graduates. Accordingly, the graduates of the program will be able to make an application to either the related positions available in public institutions by KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination), or the related positions of the companies occupied with communication practices in private sector to fulfill the needs of human resources.
Access to Further Studies
The graduates holding Bachelor’s Degree are eligible to apply to Master’s Degree programmes at national level and /or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.

Within the body of Advertising Department there are 3 professor, 1 associate professors, 4 assistant professors and 3 research assistant working in the academic staff.
